Tender Storage on Foredeck

    Looking to store Tender on my foredeck of 1989 45' Viking Convertible.

    What would be he weight capacity?Tender will weight about 400lbs.

    I called Viking but no response yet.

    400lbs shouldn't be an issue structurally. It will effect ride a bit. How much, who knows.

    400 pounds should be fine. But also don't forget to factor in the weight of the winch. Might be a good idea to fill a barrel with freshwater tied to the foredeck and take the boat for a run to see how the ride is affected before you start the project

    400lbs sounds light for a small tender, with outboard, gear and the weight of chocks and the davit.

    Better make sure that the tender can't fill with water,...LOTs of added weight.

    At one time I was looking to design a 'transomless' RIB for just this reason.

    You won't have any problems. I have a 44Viking with a davit and 11' Caribe Console. The boat handles it fine. In fact I carried a 14 Novourania Console up there for a while. It was about 900#.
    Fuel consumption went up about 10% when hauling it around so only did short runs with it.
    When selecting a davit , if you don't have one, make sure you get an aluminum one (weight).
