Love my 2017 Sea Ray 510 fly with 8.3 Cummins and pods. Have taken from Jacksonville to Bahamas, Hilton Head and St Augustine many times. This Sea Ray is a solid sea boat and Cummins are solid. May look at new M50 Maritomo at Lauderdale Show, Any candid advice from you experienced Captains? Much appreciated.
Six years ago we moved from the L650 Fly to a Maritimo M64. The styling of the SR was awesome, but outweighed by the poor engineering and build quality. Maritimo makes a great product with well thought out systems, excellent build quality, sea worthiness, range, and engine room space to be envied. Would I ever own another L class Sea Ray? No. Another Maritimo? In a heartbeat.
Much appreciated, Sea Gull. A clear testimonial for Maritimo. Excited to see their new M50 as my slip holds a max of 55 ft. Thanks again.
Brother Scott I have commented before that I am not a great fan of the later big SeaRays. Not because of any safety issues but just poor fit & trim, services access and lack of a long sales edition. I will receive some backlash on these comments but have survived them before. Sadly, I have not serviced any Maritimo vessels that I remember. I do enjoy products from down under (formally a southern Cross service provider). They could really be a great beast but other than looks (IMO poor), I do not have anything to help you with. In my opinion, if your happy with your Ray510, keep it. Changing to Volvo or MTU will really depress you.
I was looking at Maritimo and Riviera, and ended up with a 64' Riviera SMY. Both have straight shafts, fit and finish are very good (I think a little better on Riv based on non biased reports). For me, I wanted a center helm, MAN 1550 engines, and a more sportfishing style back end. One thing that concerned me with Maritimo was how flat the stern is. Like table top flat, at least on the 60. Not sure that's great for ride. Support is top notch due to the fla service center for Riviera, not sure with Maritimo. Have you looked at similar sized Riv's? To me the biggest issue for under 60' Riv's is the lean towards pod drives. GLWS
A customer of mine who has owned around 20 yachts. He bought a new 50' Maritimo a few years ago and kept it for exactly 2 months and got rid of it, he went to a Riviera and has been completely happy. The 50' Maritimo has no place to put any of your toiletries in the master head, doesn't ride great, doesn't perform well etc........ I would be looking at a 46' Riviera really hard.
