Yes it is unusual, The aft deck is a climate controlled room and the only way to seal it is to enclose the stairway leading up to the sun deck....

Let me see if I can get this right. Here is a Static display model of a 86' Merritt "Seraphim" built at 1:35 scale the model is about 30" long.
