I'm not much of a believer in one pinhole being limited to one pinhole's collection of problems. I'd dig more deeply.
    • Soda blasting the hull will help you identify any external pitting, and it will show you previous locations for repairs.
    • Like I said, 5 years between haul outs is asking for problems on metal boats, especially aluminum.
    • If you have a pinhole in a diesel tank.........where in the tank orientation? Down low, near the keel? Historical water in the fuel? Near a bulkhead to a bilge or black tank? Contributor to the issue.
    • My instinct would be to cut open a hole large enough to visually insect the top side of that location. Look for pitting or earlier repairs as well as any type of debris that could have entered to help create a battery.
    • Do your best to not settle for the easiest path to splashing. Be sensible. A pinhole at a fuel tank becomes a larger hole with ease, and it's not a hole that is going to show itself with, say, water in your bilge and a cylcing pump...don't think that sealing the pinhole closes that chapter.

I'm in complete agreement. Step one is to have her soda blasted to see what we're dealing with, and have a full audio guage performed. The leak is located a few inches above the bottom of the keel just fore of the boundary weld of the main and reserve tank, and it just so happens to be where she was sitting on the I-beam of the rail system. She sat there for multiple days before the leak showed itself, so I'm leaning to beleive the weight of the vessel on her keel on the I-beam led to this leak. I should have a better understanding of the issue later this week.

Lowest portion of the tank. Suspect water in the fuel tank perhaps coupled with keel immersed in muck bottom. Perhaps some trash debris built up inside as well. I had this issue at similar location of black tank in ER between wet bilges. Result was a full rebuild of keel structure and plate replacement, full length of ER.

    be thorough.

Dang!! That's quite an undertaking! How long had you owned her before finding that little treat? Do you have any pictures of that project? That would be neat to see how it was performed.

She's been moved to another marina for haulout and repair. Messenger_creation_59DDF5FD-85B9-4676-91F3-2E8FCE1A0B8F.jpeg

We went bulkhead to bulkhead in the ER, included the keel.
